WILLIAMSPORT - Senior Jahki Brister led a collective team effort, scoring 16 points and grabbing 14 rebounds, as the St. John Neumann boys varsity basketball team won its fifth straight game, defeating surging Sullivan County, 51-44, Saturday night.
Neumann overcame a nine-point second-quarter deficit thanks to the late-game heroics of Brister, who scored eight of the team's 17 points in the final quarter. Zaidyn Diehl-Romano (7 points, 7 rebounds) scored all seven of his points in that crucial second quarter, Kane Meixel (8 points) hit timely 3-pointers, and Daiton Thompson (10 points) scored six fourth-quarter points.
The win put an end to Sullivan County's (12-3) six-game win streak.
The Knights (8-6) get back into action on Monday, Jan. 19, when they host Wellsboro. Junior varsity tips at 6 p.m.
